Yeah, I want an inflatable boat while shit is exploding all around and people have tools and knives and crap in their pockets. Makes perfect sense in a disaster to rely on these. No matter the separate air chambers, you can see it flexing in the small waves and if one or several chambers deflate...well, you are going to wish for something solid.
How can it be cheaper to put a gauntlet on a device than to inspect it properly and avoid downtime? I get it, it looks like a good product that will save lives, but as an outsider to the industry, I can't see how it makes sense as a product.
Is this a low-pressure fog at 16bar(your X-flow variant)? How big are the water droplets in this simulation? Would a high-pressure system with more fine mist be more effective?
The aim of this study was to test the theory that the fire protection mechanisms that work for diesel fires would also work for methanol fires. The video above is from the first stage of testing, where we tested our XFLOW Water Mist system without any adaptations for methanol. We then repeated the test after we had made adaptations - as described in our article here: tinyurl.com/SurvitecSafetyStudy - and the fire was then extinguished successfully.
